Where Did You Leave Him?

Often as believers, we get off our knees from prayer and proceed with our day. We’re faced with multiple decisions — some minor, others life-altering. The responsibilities and cares of this world quickly become mountains. And everywhere we turn, another decision demands an answer.

Yes, I’m talking about believers. Pacing the floor, unable to sleep at night, weighed down by the magnitude of what’s at stake. Maybe you’re a parent, a CEO, or a ministry leader — someone who carries the weight of how your choices impact others. And maybe, in the middle of all that pressure, you had a moment. A fleshly outburst. A wave of guilt. Some self-condemnation to top it off.

You’re trying to do everything right: you read your Bible, said your prayers, even squeezed in a 5-minute devotion.

Let’s look at Moses. A leader whose decisions impacted millions. Moses wasn’t perfect, but he understood the advantage. He knew no matter where he was going, he needed the presence of God with him.

Exodus 33:14-15 (NLT)
“I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest—everything will be fine for you.”
Moses responded, “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place.”

Moses knew the secret: where God’s presence is, peace is.

Apart from God’s presence, there is no clarity, no sound judgment, no right solutions, and certainly no rest. Real peace is only found in Him. He is Jehovah Shalom — nothing missing, nothing broken.

John 1:5
“God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”

But here’s what many believers do without realizing it: we exit our prayer closet, close our Bible, and leave God right there. We don’t invite Him into our thoughts, our decisions, or our emotions.

And in the absence of peace? Confusion and calamity move in.

Make the Exchange.

The Holy Spirit brings the mind of God — His thoughts, His feelings, His wisdom. That’s the advantage. That’s the light. That’s the peace that silences anxiety, worry, and stress. That’s the Kingdom of God invading every expression of your soul.

Philippians 4:7
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Personal Prayer:

Lord, thank You for the gift of Your presence. Forgive me for shutting You out and not allowing You to reign over my soul.
Release Your thoughts to me.
Help me desire what You desire.
Help me feel what You feel.
Let me receive Your peace and rest in every area of my life.
Make me an extension of You — a carrier of Your holy presence.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
